For our exterior products, we can offer a sanded finish, UV Protection Oil or a stain and UV Protection Oil. Stains are available in three shades; light, medium and dark.
For interior products, we can offer a sanded finish, Danish oil, hard-wax oil with satin finish, matt varnish or an interior stain with or without varnish. Stains are available in three shades; light, medium and dark.
If you are looking for something specific – perhaps a certain colour – we can order this especially for you.
What aftercare will your products require?
Outdoor products will benefit from a yearly re-treatment. We can provide this service for a fee if you don’t feel confident doing this yourself. We recommend using Osmo UV Protection Oil. If possible, avoid leaving garden products in the heavy rain for prolonged periods of time. During the winter months we advise covering garden furniture with a waterproof sheet.
For indoor products with a finish (i.e. an oil or varnish), use warm soapy water to clean. Don’t use an abrasive sponge. Danish oil and hard-wax oil can be re-finished with a light hand-sand and using a cloth to wipe a new layer on. Any products with a varnish will need to be stripped back completely before any re-finishing.
What timber do you have for sale? Do you stock railway sleepers?
We have a timber yard full of reclaimed wood for sale. We sell ex-scaffold boards as well as various softwood and hardwood pieces. We don’t work with reclaimed railway sleepers due to the creosote chemical they are soaked in, however, we can source new sleepers for you on request.
What dimensions are the ex-scaffold boards? How much are they?
We have two thicknesses of ex-scaffold boards available; 35mm (thin) or 65mm (thick). The 35mm boards are approximately 3900mm x 215mm, the 65mm boards are approximately 2400mm x 215mm. 35mm boards are £15.60 each, the 65mm boards are £10.40 each.
Can you cut wood to size for me?
Yes, we can provide a cutting service. Cross cuts are 50p each, rip cuts are £1 each.
What is a social enterprise?
Social enterprises trade to tackle social problems, improve communities, people’s life chances, or the environment. They make their money from selling goods and services in the open market, but they reinvest their profits back into the business or the local community. So, when they profit, society profits.
Can I drop off waste wood to you?
Wood drop-offs are not always possible. We recommend you contact us first before attempting a drop-off as you may have to take the waste wood back with you.
How much does it cost to have waste wood collected? Can you collect wooden furniture?
It varies depending on the amount of waste wood. The minimum charge for wood collections is £30, with a full van load costing £120. We can collect certain types of wooden furniture; it must be solid wood and in decent condition. Read more about our wood collection service here.
